Nixon Farms Solar
Nixon Farms Solar - Howard County, MD
BITHENERGY is developing a renewable energy project in Howard County, Maryland on 67 acres, known to many as Nixon Farms. This solar array is expected to be the largest in Maryland. The project includes a 10MWAC solar photovoltaic facility and a Hybrid Renewable Energy System (HRES) training facility dedicated specifically to green technology training for youths and veterans. By providing this green training we will encourage a low carbon economy, and prepare an emerging workforce for green jobs across a portfolio of diverse renewable energy technologies like wind, solar (PV and thermal), biomass, bio-gas, and geothermal technologies.
The facility will be developed as an integrated project with separate financing and ownership agreements. Additionally, the Nixon Farm HRES™ will create approximately 400-500 green construction jobs and 37 permanent positions once all phases have been completed. Solar PV generation is the most advanced component of the Nixon Farm HRES™. By fully utilizing both federal and state incentives associated with the project, the BITHENERGY team will site, permit, develop, design, finance and construct this state of the art facility. The terms of the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) will be host-specific, and the solar design will be fully optimized for this Howard County location and its associated solar irradiance. Grid interconnection is underway and construction began Summer, 2012.
