Maryland is facing a serious energy shortfall. If nothing is done, our demand for power will exceed our supply in two years, leading to brownouts. Maryland cannot just construct more power. It takes 10 years to build a power plant and 10-12 years to build transmission lines. So the most effective, quickest way of addressing this problem is cutting down on our energy consumption.
In January 2008, BITHENERGY won a bid to manage energy consumption across Maryland's 55 state agencies. This multi-million dollar project includes the collection, processing, analysis, and payment of over 15,000 state utility bills spanning more than 4,600 electric, gas, fuel oil, propane, and district stream accounts.
