Energy Technical Training Program

The BITHENERGY Energy Technician Training Program is designed to instruct participants on conducting a detailed energy audit. You will learn to identify the common energy-wasting areas of a residence or commercial building. You will also learn more in-depth energy conservation techniques to enable you to provide your clients with the maximum in energy savings insight. The course is easy to follow and understand, yet detailed and descriptive to educate you thoroughly. The program is designed to follow the requirements for RESNET certification. It’s also geared to be complementary with existing resident training initiatives.

The BITHENERGY Energy Technician Training Program consists of a three week course covering the following five topics:

  1. Work/Life Skills – provide the auditor trainee job and workplace-related skills to successfully provide audit service. Refresh and strengthen math and reasoning skills.

  2. Energy Use in New and Existing Building Structures – introduce auditor trainee to the basics of energy and water consumption in a residential environment.

  3. What Makes a Structure Efficient/Inefficient – prepare the auditor trainee for the auditing process. Participate in four to five actual residential audits.

  4. Commercial Audit Training – prepare the auditor to build upon the knowledge of auditing residential structures and prepare them to provide the same service to commercial buildings. Participate in one or two actual commercial building audits.

  5. Certification Test Preparation – prepare the auditor trainee for the BITHENERGY Technician Certification test.

After you have studied all 5 topics, you will be given a Certification Examination to test your knowledge. Once you have successfully passed the BITHENERGY Energy Technician Energy written examination, you will receive your very own Certificate of Completion. You can then take this Certificate with you and present it to potential clients to ensure them you are certified as an Energy Technician and can save them money based on the in-depth energy analysis training you have received in the program.

Trainee Profile
High School graduate, housing authority resident able to participate in a three week training program for eight hours per day, having basic math and computer skills, interested in pursuing a career in the energy industry.
