Energy Management

Federal government, state government, large corporations and universities that process between 200 to 100,000+ utility bills a month should implement an energy management system to get an accurate view of energy consumption patterns. Tracking these patterns let you see where you can lower your energy costs.

Bithenergy’s energy management information system helps you get value from your utility bill data in many ways. It is powerful and flexible, with tracking features unsurpassed in accuracy. Web reporting tools give you a way to measure and manage your organization's energy consumption in a user-friendly dashboard. Plus, the system often pays for itself within the first year through energy efficiency improvements. Bithenergy is especially efficient at analyzing utility bills because of our extensive knowledge of complex rate schedules, various commodities & vendors.

DGS Energy Management Information Systems

Bithenergy is helping the State of Maryland’s Department of General Services (DGS) monitor and track their energy usage across 62 different agencies while managing over 15,000 electric and gas accounts. DGS supports other state agencies in achieving their missions by managing state facilities, procurement, logistics and maintenance services.

DGS's Office of Energy Performance & Conservation was attempting to identify opportunities to reduce the budget deficit for the State of Maryland.

Bithenergy implemented an Energy Management Information System to track and monitor energy usage. We set up the database system, input historical utility bill data to establish a baseline, host and manage the database. Bithenergy inputs utility bill data on a monthly basis and analyzes DGS’s energy usage and spending.

During the course of this project, Bithenergy uncovered a billing error for SHA that lead them to recover $91,000 dollars from Pepco. Also, for fiscal years 2010 and 2011, DGS, along with the University System of Maryland, achieved savings of approximately $11 million, compared to comparable fixed price contracts.

Bithenergy is especially efficient at analyzing utility bills because of our extensive knowledge of complex rate schedules, various commodities and vendors. EnergyCAP allows the grouping of buildings to compare energy usage patterns and compute Energy Star Ratings as well as creates graphical models to assist with analyzing energy usage and with monitoring trends. Executive management reports are produced that help managers make decisions about energy usage, energy suppliers and future energy-related recommendations.

SunTrust Bank - Energy Management Information System

Bithenergy is helping SunTrust Bank monitor and track their energy usage across 1500 different buildings in 10 different states while managing over 2300 electric and gas accounts. SunTrust Banks, with assets of over $172.9 billion, is one of the nation’s largest financial services holding companies. Bithenergy has implemented an Energy Management Information System featuring EnergyCAP to track and monitor energy usage. Bithenergy set up the system, input historical data to establish a baseline and manages the database. Bithenergy inputs data on a monthly basis and analyzes SunTrust’s utility bills. Bithenergy is especially efficient at analyzing utility bills because of our extensive knowledge of complex rate schedules, various commodities and vendors.

EnergyCAP gives Bithenergy the ability to audit the data to verify that the energy usage information is accurate. Reports are created and billing errors are corrected. EnergyCAP allows the grouping of buildings to compare energy usage patterns and compute Energy Star Ratings as well as creates graphical models to assist with analyzing energy usage and with monitoring trends. Executive management reports are produced that help managers make decisions about energy usage, energy suppliers and future energy related recommendations.

During the course of this project, Bithenergy found a billing error that resulted in SunTrust receiving a refund of over $31,000. Bithenergy has also helped SunTrust cancel many utility accounts, saving over $100,000. Bithenergy’s solution provides a quick and easy way to monitor energy usage.

Virginia Commonwealth University - Energy Management Information System

Bithenergy is helping Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) monitor and track their energy usage across 200 buildings while managing over 500 utility billing accounts. VCU was attempting to monitor their energy usage using two different software packages. This included monitoring 200 facilities and their own steam plant. The university was also trying to track the productivity of the steam plant as an energy source that they resell to a third party.

Bithenergy implemented an Energy Management Information System featuring EnergyCAP to track and monitor energy usage. Bithenergy set up the system, hosts and manages the database and input historical data to establish a baseline. Bithenergy inputs data on a monthly basis and analyzes VCU’s utility bills. Bithenergy is especially efficient at analyzing utility bills because of our extensive knowledge of complex rate schedules, various commodities and vendors. We are able to audit the usage data to verify that the energy usage information is accurate and create reports to help VCU correct billing errors.

EnergyCAP also allows the grouping of buildings to compare energy usage patterns and compute Energy Star Ratings. EnergyCAP also creates graphical models to assist with analyzing energy usage and with monitoring trends. Executive management reports are produced that help managers make decisions about energy usage, energy suppliers and future energy related recommendations. EnergyCAP provides a quick and easy way to monitor energy usage. It allows VCU to offload work from their staff and save resources. VCU now has access to energy management software experts. VCU’s cost savings more than cover the cost of software installation, hosting and monitoring services within the first year of operation.
