Coppin State Solar
Coppin State University Solar - Baltimore, MD
BITHENERGY, Inc. and Constellation Energy installed a 500kW solar rooftop solar photovoltaic array on Coppin State University’s campus. BITHENERGY also installed DAS Monitoring which monitors the output of the solar array.
As a result of stimulus funding from the ARRA program, Coppin State University (CSU) was awarded a $500,000 grant by Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley and the Maryland Energy Administration. These funds provided “mobilization capital” to help accelerate the development of strategic solar energy projects. The University's commitment to renewable energy will help reduce Maryland's energy costs, minimize its carbon footprint, and provide an economic and entrepreneurial stimulus for the students of Coppin as well as the citizens of Baltimore City. Besides reducing electricity costs and Coppin’s carbon footprint, the installation of solar photovoltaic systems has two important additional benefits – an academic learning perspective and environmental impact.
